n 1992 just out of high school Amanda Bossard started her education in marine biology atAlaska Pacific University in Anchorage,AK. Bossard began her career in the commercial seafood industry in 1999. At the time, she worked in Murat Aritan's halibut 65 feet boat, which was later transformed into a fishing tender. Bossard and Aritan are now married and have joined forces in claiming their share of their business. Both of them are favor of conserving resources and optimizing profits. Otolith, a wholesale direct seafood retailer, was founded on the 7th of July 2007 Bella Bossard (age three), Andre Bossard (1 year old) and Bossard's mother. Bossard had returned to Philadelphia after having two young children. Her husband has a long history in the fish industry, which often keeps them separated from each other for five months or more. That's when they're focused on their financial and environment goals. Bossard's daughter Isabella, age 12, and son Andre 10 come back each year for a visit to Southeast Alaska to work in the position of deckhand during wild salmon season. Hooks and lines are employed to collect their fish, and then join Aritan to market their products to local processors for 2 months. Then they continue to increase their direct seafood sale through Otolith Sustainable Seafood.
